Everything a first-time RV family needs for a smooth weekend at Cobles Landing — hookups, packing, drive times, and the little things that make kids ask when we can come back.
Pulling an RV onto 25 acres of Polkton, North Carolina farmland for the first time can feel like a big step. It shouldn't. Our family has hosted first-timers, weekend regulars, and full-blown reunion caravans, and the weekend almost always unfolds the same way: a little nervous backing in on Friday, and a whole lot of "can we stay one more night?" on Sunday.
Here is the guide we wish every new RV family had before they arrived.
Arrival and hookups
Our RV sites are level, generously spaced, and easy to back into — no tight switchbacks or low branches to fight. Sites include water and electric, and we keep the approach open so a longer rig or a truck-and-trailer combo has room to swing. Plan to arrive with daylight if you can; the first setup always goes smoother when the kids can see where they are running off to.

What to bring
Bring the usual RV kit: a drinking-water hose, a pressure regulator, leveling blocks, wheel chocks, and a 30/50-amp adapter that matches your rig. Then bring the country-weekend extras that people forget — a good flashlight for each kid, bug spray, camp chairs, firewood money, and shoes that you do not mind getting muddy. Cell service is fine, but the fun here is outside.
Pack for temperature swings, too. Anson County mornings can be crisp while the afternoon is warm enough for the water hose and a sprinkler.
Getting here
Cobles Landing sits at 906 Wightman Church Rd, Polkton, NC 28135 — close enough for a spontaneous weekend, far enough to feel like you actually left. Most of our guests drive in from Charlotte in a little over an hour, Fayetteville and Greensboro in roughly two, and Raleigh in about two and a half. Wadesboro and Monroe folks are here in minutes.
Making it a kid weekend
This is where an RV weekend at Cobles Landing earns its keep. Kids 12 and under stay free, and there is enough on the property to keep them moving from breakfast to bedtime: nature trails to explore, the fishing pond for a first catch, a gazebo and picnic area for the big family meal, and open sky for the kind of evening that ends around a fire.
Set one rule for the weekend — no screens until after dinner — and watch how quickly they forget the rule existed.
Before you head home
Check the site for anything a kid left behind (there is always something), leave the fire ring clean, and take one picture of everybody together before you pull out. If your weekend lines up with something on our events calendar, you may find a reason to stay through Sunday afternoon.
